Strangers In The Wind

Strangers In The Wind
Polyurethane Foam, Fibreglass, Acrylic Paint
Various Heights (0.7m-2.8m)

The work consists of five figures, with each stand vertically from the sand. The work is about the tide and its constant flow of energy up and down and the figures reference this by being different heights. Constructed form surfboard blanks, the materiality of the works are inherent to the beach.
The tide breathes in and out twice a day and can be interpreted as a living being, or a live pulse of a larger organism. By highlighting and revealing an often hidden part of our beach experience, one can relate to the tide and the landscape as a whole in a more human dimension.
